ALOHA (Eastern)
“ALOHA”aims to provide one-stop, district-based and accessible community support and social rehabilitation
services for ex-mentally ill persons, people with suspected mental health problem and their family
members/carers as well as local residents living in the serving district.
Scope of Services
Services of “ALOHA” include:
- Drop-in services;
- Case counseling and group works;
- Outreaching services;
- Networking activities such as social and recreational activities;
- Day training and programmes;
- Occupational therapy assessment and training;
- Psychological services;
- Peer support services;
- Family support services;
- Public education programmes on mental health;
- Referral to the Community Psychiatric Service of Hospital Authority for assessment or
treatment; and - Referral or liaison with community resources and other social welfare services.
Target Group
The target groups of “ALOHA” are preferably those are residing in the serving district (Wong Tai Sin or Chai
Wan and Siu Sai Wan):
- Discharged mental patients aged 12 or above;
- Persons with suspected mental health problems aged 12 or above;
- Seconding school students whose school or youth service in the serving district;
- Family members and carers of persons with mental health/suspected mental problems;
- Ex-mentally ill persons living in the private residential care homes;
- Residents with interest in understanding and improving their mental health.
Application Procedure
The applicant could be:
- Self approach,
- Referred by social workers, psychiatrists, allied health workers or staff of government departments.
Withdrawal from Service
Service users may withdraw from the service under the following conditions:
- The user has received service for a period of time, is mentally stable & functioning well and
requiring no further ICCMW service; - The user has admitted to subvented halfway house or long stay care home;
- The user is admitted to psychiatric hospital;
- The user is persistently unmotivated to receive ICCMW service;
- Self-withdrawal;
- Untraceable.
Fees
The service is free of charge. Particular programmes/activities will be charged depends on the
arrangement.
Staffing
The professional team includes registered social workers, nurse (psychiatric), occupational therapist,
clinicial psychologist etc.
