"Daily Meal Network" – Short Term Food Assistance Service has been co-operated since 2009 among five non-governmental organizations, namely Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service, ABM Hong Kong Swatow Baptist Church Community Service Association, Christian & Missionary Alliance Church Union Hong Kong Ltd. Social Services, Sai Kung District Community Centre, and Richmond Fellowship of Hong Kong. It provides vulnerable groups living in the districts including Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O with food assistance to relieve their short-term economic hardship. Two Half-way Houses namely Tsui Wah House and Sheung Tak House are two of the assessment centres and delivery points. Referral to relevant social services can also be made for people who are in need. Apart from subvention received from the Government, donations are also received from community members and caring companies, hence, reaching more people in need.  

Last year, both Wong Tai Sin and Tseung Kwan O Districts served 312 family households, amounting to a total of 694 service users. The service also served 127 individual cases. most of the service users came from low income groups (69%) while 11% of them were unemployed. 


Provide short-term food assistance for underprivileged individuals or families to meet their basic need for food for a defined period.

Target Group

  1. Those who are unemployed
  2. From low-income groups: family gross income is less than 55% of the Median Monthly Domestic Household Income
  3. New arrivals
  4. Street sleepers
  5. Individuals or families encountering an unforeseen situation or sudden change and facing immediate financial hardship are eligible to apply.

Services provided

To provide direct food assistance to people in need on a short-term for relieving hunger. Food is such as rice, noodles, canned food, wheat flakes and eggs etc. Individuals who are in need, milk powder, food coupons etc are given to them after assessment.

Application procedures

Applicants should apply directly to the Daily Meal Network according to their living address.
Applicants require making an appointment and fill in the application form and bring along with supporting document, such as identity certification, address document, salary and saving document, for assessment needs.

Length of Service

Maximum of 6 weeks.
